Sleepless

I'm in such turmoil with this prospect of a move.  When I close my eyes and try to sleep my brain is racing from one scene to another thinking of what I have to do, and how I'm going to do it.  After I get up to use the bathroom about 4:00 am, I have a hard time falling back to sleep.  I think I'd take a nap in the afternoon, and even though I'm so tired, I get on the recliner and can't fall asleep. I have such high hopes for St. Rita Square, I hope I won't be disappointed.  Since Laura is on spring break the week before Easter, I made an appointment for a tour on Friday, April 2nd, at 10:00 am.

It's Janice's week to call me and I have to bite my tongue not telling her my intentions.  She was totally against the idea when I first broached the subject, so was Terry.  But I want to wait until I make a final decision.

I posted on Facebook that I had CD cases that I didn't know what to do with.  A man offered to pick them up.  I put them outside my front door; he never showed up.

Pain

Yesterday my left upper arm ached so severely that when I drove to the post office I could not cross my left arm over the steering wheel to make a right turn.  Back pain was noticeable also, as usual.

I had some discomfort during the night trying to find a pain-free spot, but for my back and arm.

This morning and during the day I am pain free through my whole body. Amazing!

St. Patrick's Day

I bought corned beef plus ingredients to complete the meal that Peter and I would share.  I put the vegetables and corned beef in the slow cooker at 9:00 am and added cut up cabbage at 4:45 pm.  The recipe called for a 4 pound roast and mine was about 3 pounds.  I didn't have to keep it cooking as long.  But it was delicious served with a creamy horseradish sauce.  We had ice cream with green creme de menthe for dessert.   Earlier in the day I thought Bailey's Irish Creme would be good.  I tipped the bottle to taste it and nothing came out, but the bottle felt heavy as though it were full.  I poured hot water into it and unsightly chunks came out.  I guess it has a limited shelf life.

Gnu Cash

Today would be a good day to organize my records for taxes.  I got the Edvest accounts balanced then to get my contributions from Gnu Cash.  Could not find the file!  Lots of tries and reinstalled, but no luck.  After reinstalling it didn't look or behave like it used to.  I went through my checkbook, credit card and Paypal to list all my contributions in another spreadsheet.  I started another spreadsheet of my expenses and income.  I'm not that handy with Excel formulas; I'm sure someone with more knowledge would make it work easier.  Hopefully, I can make this work.

Went to 4:00 pm mass.

Peter came with a bunch of yellow mums, wearing a mask, as was I.  It's the first time we saw each other in person for a very long time.

Shortly after entering and opening a bottle of beer he said Jean Henning called him, leaving a message.  My jaws dropped because she was on my mind to call about selling my condo.  I had to tell Peter about my plans to move.  He couldn't have been more pleased, about more convenience, location, etc.  I  told him as much as I could about what I knew so far.  But I could not believe the coincidence of my situation and Jean's call.

I was very pleased with the flavor of the catfish, plus I served pierogi and Waldorf salad.

I fixed a catfish, pierogi and Waldorf salad; I was really pl

Photos

I lectored at the 8:30 mass. the church capacity seems to keep the same number of worshipers.  My breakfast consisted of an egg in a red pepper ring, orange and coffee.

I watched the Geeks on the road demonstrate photo scan.  It was very simple and I had no trouble doing it.  I started tackling my photo albums that had photos of people I never remembered.  I cleaned out over twenty albums, all in the trash, but I saved some pages that I will scan. I have a lot of bags for the trash and recycle bins

Drip Drip

Before going to bed last night I looked for my phone, which was in the basement.  I took it with me as I was sorting, and didn't take it with my because my arms were full.  I heard water dripping.  I checked the stationary tubs, since I washed some pots, but it was tight.  There was water dripping somewhere around the water heater.  It wasn't causing a flood, so I'd call the plumber first thing in the morning.

First thing I did when waking up was call Flow Rite plumber and told him about the leak.  I turned on the shower this morning - no hot water! I called back again and told him I didn't have hot water, so he might consider that I might need a new water heater.  He said he'd be over in the afternoon.

Ben Blomquist determined that I'd need a new water heater which he did not have with him.  The water tank is draining while he went to get a replacement.

After three hours, $1450, it had to happen on a Saturday, otherwise it would have been less expensive.

Moving Along

I'm getting more information regarding moving.  EastCastle Place had a webnar with a real estate planner and organizer that had good advice.  They do a very thorough job from almost start to finish.  Jay gave me the name of a woman that helped his friend the Faradays and I talked to her today, Marcia Gjertsen.  We talked briefly before my hair appointment and the information she sent to my email made it look pretty easy.  When I said that I was donating a lot of stuff, she advised against that because whatever I'm donating could be sold.  They sell everything on Craig's List and dispose of everything that doesn't sell.  Sounds like a plan.

Vaccine

March 1, 2021

Last Thursday I got a code from Aurora to schedule a COVID vaccination.  Once I entered my information, I tried scheduling an appointment.  I clicked on every calendar day up to May with "no times available".  I registered with Walgreens, Maijier, and various other places.  Franklin was vaccinating on February 24th, but all slots were filled.  I talked to Terry on Friday and she looked up a lot of sources, but many places were closed by then.  Terry and Bob already had theirs along with many other people I know.

Jay and Annika paid me a visit on Saturday to start Anton's car and pick up the slide projector (it works after many years in the basement).  Jay changed my bulb in the chandelier and cleaned out the bathroom vent in the spare bedroom.  I told him about my frustration in getting scheduled and he tried getting on Aurora.  After getting the same results that I did, he called the customer service number and after waiting through countless recorded messages, finally got a person who told him there were no appointments available.  Next, Jay sent an email to Franklin Health and Human Services to see if I could be on a wait list on February 24th.

I had to phone Jay after he left because he forgot the slide projector which was the reason for his trip.

Today I got an email from Courtney Day, head of Franklin's Health and Human Services, saying that there were spaces open on March 3rd.  I filled out one time slot, but by the time I hit Submit the slot was filled.  Fortunately the next slot was open.

March 3, 2021

I arrived for my 3:15 pm appointment a few minutes early and was directed to the check-in desk, then another person where I answered some questions about my health.  I waited a minute before a chair was open and sat down for my shot into my right upper arm.  The needle is so fine that I hardly felt it, not like the blood center spike.

I had not discomfort in the evening.

March 4,

I had a very good night's rest with no pain or other symptoms related to the vaccination.

March 30, 2021

My appointment was at the same time at Franklin City Hall.  Again it was hardly felt.  I expected some discomfort of other feelings that were listed as possible reactions.  I felt none afterwards.  When I was lying on my right side with sleeping, I felt a very little tenderness, but nothing to keep me awake. If I put pressure on the area of the injection, I could feel something; otherwise, nothing.  One bonus was a table of bread and rolls that we could help ourselves to.  I had a beef patty thawing, so I made a hamburger on a bun  with a nice slice of onion.
