I took a shawl to be blessed to give to Ava Tarantino after mass. During mass Jackie texted me asking if I had shawls for Ava's two brothers. I did not. I left before the mass was completely over and got two more shawls from my closet. Ava, Michael and Sal(vador) were deeply touched receiving the shawls. I need to make more shawls with subdued colors for men.
I stayed for coffee and bakery and chatted with Jackie, Rita, Carol K, and Jeanne H.
I worked on my blog about Mardi Gras until it was time for Aleksei to pick me up for dinner; he is home for a week from Lake Tahoe. We munched on appetizers and chatted, and then had a similar repeat of Christmas dinner with beef tenderloin, salad and baked potatoes with multiple toppings.
Aleksei took me home and will spend the night with Annika.

Strength workout.
A nice group showed up for Book Club, with some interesting books
Instead of sheepshead, I went to the Meet and Greet, with mostly longer residents instead of newer ones. We talked about where we were born and where we traveled, with unusual travel experiences. I went to mass, but when I checked my email and saw that $900 was debited from my account I became so alarmed I called ECU right away. Getting someone to talk to was another story. I was so frustrated that I almost threw my phone. The person I finally spoke with said there had been no withdrawals of that amount.

I found the Portsmouth earring that I lost a few months ago. I heard a little noise in the tissue box as I was flattening it. There it was! I kissed it!
I needed nickels for sheepshead, so when I gave the teller my $20 bill it slipping between a space in the drawer and landed on the ground. Good thing there was no wind. Four tables of five played at Muskego Public Library. I had mostly lousy cards, and with the decent cards that I had I still lost.
I shopped at Festival for a few future dinner items: chicken breast, shrimp, baking potatoes and stir-fry vegetables.
I'm glad that I have a food truck on Pleasant Street, because it was almost 6:00 p.m. by the time I got home. I had three steak tacos.

Janice came with delicious broccoli soup, rolls, and brownies with vanilla ice cream for our lunch. The wallet that I ordered for Brad yesterday was delivered while she was here. Brad wanted a slim wallet that would fit in his front pants pocket when they are traveling to Grand Cayman. We talked a lot about Laura's alcoholism. Janice had shared our concern with Claude.
I took Charlotte Crysdale to the Whitefish Bay Library to pick up a machine to listen to audio books. It is very bulky, and the selection of available books is not too great. I hope that I can help her with listening to books on her phone.
Trying to find parking at Alphonsus for sheepshead was a challenge. I was tempted to turn around and head back home. I found a corner spot not too far away. I lost about $1.50. The food was about the same as St. Florian's. There was a big crowd, and very noisy, especially when the announcer was calling off prizes and raffles.
When I got home the message from Jay was very disturbing:
8:32 p.m. "Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. She had 10 oz. of vodka tonight. About the same as 8 shots. She is not belligerent and has become a most excellent liar. No anger on my part, just sad. Al anon is helping me"
Saturday, February 3
I had a very sleepless night after receiving that message.
There was a sparse showing at the breakfast pot luck this morning. Jackie H. had an egg and spinach dish, Terry and Bruce brought apple pie steel cut oatmeal, I brought the second loaf of pumpkin bread, there was some pineapple and Danish. Dwight showed up for coffee but did not partake; others were noticeably absent.
I had to leave early for my 10:00 a.m. hair appointment.
I shopped at Walmart for some household and pet things. The store had a lot of greeters and a lot more manned check-outs.
Peter and I went to the Fortune Restaurant. I had shrimp and snow peas; the shrimp were large and plentiful with lots of crisp peas. We finished the evening with cone/cup of butter pecan at Leon's
