I made an apple salad for the pot luck before mass. It filled Donald's big bowl.
I did the second reading of St. Paul to the Philippians, which had very long sentences, but I felt very good today with no fainting spells.
Terri Miller drove Doug Visvader, Cheri Franch and me to the American Legion Band Spring Concert in Cudahy. It was marvelous, with great musicianship and spirit.
When we got back to SRS there wasn't much time to get our dishes down to the pot luck. The pot luck was pretty skimpy, mostly salads. My apple salad got polished off very quickly. I hate buffets, but I hate pot lucks more; all that food mixed together does not appeal to me.Saturday, April 5, 2025
My bathroom cabinets needed organizing and tossing. I sorted towels and made some items more accessible. The cabinets look much neater.
After my hair, I revived my African violets that looked droopy. I added more soil and snipped off wilted leaves, and then gave them a good soaking.
I picked up $100+ groceries at the P & S on Lyon Street. I loaded them in the shopping cart, put stuff from the garage in my trunk so I could get my area washed on Monday. I found a parking space on Van Buren close to the garage.
I took up my groceries, washed the freezer and frig, and put my groceries away. I bought enough for the apple salad for Sunday's pot luck, vegetable soup and other odds and ends. This shopping was very convenient.
I relaxed until Peter picked me up at 5:30 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation at Double Bs Ribs. We were seated immediately and we both ordered a half rack with beans, also a beer for Peter and a cola for me. They surely were messy eating. I wonder what laundry they use to clean those soiled napkins. Peter thought the ribs did not have very much meat on them; I would have to agree. Also the ends were quite dry and hard to chew. Outside the restaurant, I determined that the ribs at Sazz's were better. We'll try there next time; I'm sure I'm right.
We took a slow drive back to SRS and somehow were headed south instead of north. My GPS got us back on track. But it was a lovely clear night with a lot of night life throughout the city.

Janice drove me to my 12:15 p.m. appointment with Dr. Ari, who inserted my pacemaker. After the initial tests, a nurse went over my concerns: fainting spells and chest pains. The nurse checked the data from my pacemaker and there was nothing to indicate that I should be having chest pains. My blood pressure was 120/60, quite low. She looked at my medications and noticed I am quite heavy on blood pressure meds. I might be having low blood pressure. The nurse advised me to take my blood pressure twice daily to see if it drops, especially when I'm having fainting spells.
The nurse is sending all the information to Dr. Kostopolous, whom I will be seeing on April 24.
