Peter and I left for the German Consulate in Chicago at 7:30 a.m.
We made very good time until we got nearer to the city when we had a long slow-up. I used the FastToll to avoid the toll booths and go through the Pass lane. It worked perfectly.
We didn't know we were next to the Omni Hotel because there wasn't a sign on the side we were on. But Peter managed to get right in front of it on Michigan Ave.
The valet said he could park on the approach right in front of the hotel. We got to the Consulate on the 32nd floor, checked in at 9:52 a.m. for his 10:00 a.m. appointment. We waited for his turn and were finished at 11:00 a.m. The valet shrugged his shoulders when Peter asked how much we owed. We probably could have paid nothing, but Peter gave him a $10.00 tip. It was well worth it. Where would we have found such convenient parking?
I suggested a Polish restaurant instead of German when we first started out. It was 11:00 a.m. and neither of us was especially hungry, especially for a full Polish meal. We decided to go back to Milwaukee and eat on the way.
When Peter suggested the Brat Stop I was all in favor. His brat and my frankfurter with Riverwest Stein hit the spot.
