COVID Booster and RSV/Art Museum

 Friday, November 3, 2023

I felt only a mild tenderness in my left arm from the two vaccinations I received yesterday at CVS on Farwell Ave.  I had no trouble sleeping and today I hardly feel the effects.

Abby drove us to the Milwaukee Art Museum for the  Baders' Collection of fine art.

There was an emphasis on religious paintings, making the Scriptures come alive.

The life of of Alfred Bader is an interesting read:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Bader, known for his scientific breakthroughs and philanthropy.

The QR code is very helpful in explaining some of the art and their histories.

Skeleton Crew

Wednesday, November 1, 2023

Peter and I finally got to see the skeletons at Holy Hill after some weather delays.  Today was a sunny, crisp day after a surprise snowfall yesterday, with quite a bit of snow on the ground this morning causing numerous collisions.  The area around the skeletons was still muddy, but worth the trip.

Because of all the rain and wind the trees didn't have the fall splendor, but this hold-out did not disappoint.

This year's theme was a bicycle race with perhaps 100 skeletons on every imaginable bike dressed in outlandish costumes, almost all wearing helmets.

We walked around admiring the unique construction in assembling this collection.

We drove through subdivisions in the area before heading to Johnny Manhattan's for a pizza that we were looking forward to.  We were almost the first to arrive after their 4:00 p.m. opening and Peter had the unusual dilemma of where to park in the almost vacant lot.  I had a wine, Peter had an apple cider old fashioned before getting seated to await Johnny's Special 16" pizza.  We took our time and polished off the whole thing.
